Old scanner (UMAX astra610s) not working with new SCSI card.

Downloading Vistascan 3.1 for Windows 95/98 (Be sure to uninstall any old version of Vistascan you may have on your computer. http://www.umax.com/support/knowledge/solutions.cfm?docs=sc00003 )

1. Go to ftp://ftp.umax.com/scanners/vistascan/version3.1/

2. Choose Parallel, SCSI, or USB scanner. Click on "batch download".

The batch download allows you to download the scanner software in many small
parts, instead of downloading a very large file all at once.

3. After downloading each part, double click on the files you downloaded.
Click on Unzip. Click on the X in the upper, right-hand corner. Follow these
instructions untill each disk you downloaded has been Unzipped.

4. Hold down ctrl, alt, and delete keys all at the same time. The close
program window will come up.

5. Click on a program that is running and click on "end task". Don't close
"explorer" or "systray".

6. You will need to repeat steps 4 and 5 over again for each program, except
"explorer" and "systray".

7. After every program (except "explorer" and "systray") is closed, go to
the "Start" menu, highlight "Find", and choose "Files and folders".

8. Type "Vssetup" in the "Named" line. Make sure that you have "C:" chosen
under "Look In". Check "Include all Subfolders". Click on "Find Now".

9. Double click on the "Vssetup" file which should have been found in the
C:\Windows\TEMP\UMAX\VSTASCAN\DISK1 directory. This should launch the
install program.

10. Click on "Next", "Yes", and check "Custom Install", "Next", "Next",
"Next", and "Install".

11. A registration screen will appear. Click on "Cancel".

12. Click on "Exit". Close all the windows which remain open.

13. Restart your computer.

The software should now be installed.
